What is a bulbous nose?
A bulbous tip is round and wide from the front, with little separation between the two 'highlights' that normally define a tip. The cause is usually the cartilage — wide domes, strongly curved sidewalls or a large gap between the two halves — sometimes made worse by thick, oily skin and extra fibrofatty tissue.
Correction reshapes that cartilage rather than simply removing it, because over-trimmed cartilage can collapse and pinch over time. It is a focused form of tip plasty; if the nostrils are also wide, alar reduction is often added.
Who is bulbous tip surgery for?

Over-aggressive trimming can lead to a pinched, collapsed or 'operated' tip years later, which is why we prefer sutures and support to removal. Other risks include long-lasting tip swelling, scar tissue above the tip (more common in thick skin), visible graft edges in thin skin, asymmetry and possible revision.
Frequently asked questions
Can filler fix a bulbous nose?
No. Filler adds volume, so it can make a round tip look larger. Narrowing needs surgery on the cartilage.
Will my tip look pinched?
Not if the cartilage is supported rather than over-trimmed, which is the approach Dr. Lee uses.
How long does tip swelling last?
Most visible swelling settles over 3–6 months, but thick-skinned tips can take up to 18 months to show their final definition.
Is general anaesthesia needed?
Not always. Tip-only work can be done under local anaesthesia with sedation.
Will there be a visible scar?
Usually not; incisions are inside the nostrils, or a tiny columella line that fades.
How long should I stay in Seoul?
About 7–10 days, until stitches are out and Dr. Lee has checked the tip.
