What causes neck lines, and how are they treated?
Neck skin is thinner than facial skin, has fewer oil glands and folds thousands of times a day as you look down at a phone or laptop. Over time this produces horizontal creases(sometimes called necklace lines or tech neck), a crepey texture and, later, vertical bands from the platysma muscle.
Because these problems sit in different layers, one product rarely fixes them all. Fine creases respond to skin boosters such as Rejuran or Skinvive; muscle pull responds to small doses of skin botox; and early laxity responds to tightening devices like Ultherapy Prime.
Who is suited to non-surgical neck treatment?
- Horizontal neck lines that are visible even when you lift your chin.
- Crepey, dry-looking neck skin with fine texture lines.
- Mild vertical bands that appear when you clench or speak.
- Early softening under the jaw without heavy hanging skin.
- People who want minimal downtime or are not ready for a neck lift.
If the skin hangs below the jaw or the bands are thick even at rest, injectables and devices will only go so far. In that case a neck lift gives a more lasting change.
Boosters vs skin botox vs device tightening for the neck
| Skin boosters | Skin botox | Ultrasound / RF | |
| Main target | Fine creases, crepey texture | Platysma bands, muscle pull | Early laxity |
| How it feels | Small injections along lines | Tiny, shallow injections | Heat and brief discomfort |
| Results appear | Over 2–6 weeks | Within 1–2 weeks | Over 2–3 months |
| Downtime | 1–3 days of small bumps | Minimal | Minimal |
| Repeat | 2–3 sessions, then maintenance | Every 3–4 months | About yearly |

What happens after treatment?
| Day 0–1 | Small raised bumps along the lines; they flatten within hours to a day. |
|---|---|
| Day 2–3 | Pinpoint bruises may remain; a scarf or concealer covers them. |
| Week 2–4 | Skin botox reaches full effect; booster hydration becomes visible. |
| Week 4–8 | Second booster session if planned; skin texture continues to improve. |
“The neck tells your age honestly, so I treat it with the same care as the face, not as an afterthought.”
Dr. Lee Yoo-jung · Chief DirectorWhat are the risks?
Bruising, temporary bumps and tenderness are the most common effects. Skin botox placed too deeply or in too high a dose can, rarely, cause temporary difficulty swallowing or neck weakness, so we use conservative doses and stay superficial. Boosters placed unevenly can leave small lumps that usually settle. Non-surgical treatment softens lines; it does not remove loose skin, and deep creases may improve only partly.
Frequently asked questions
Can neck lines be removed completely?
Fine lines often soften a great deal, but deep creases usually improve partially. The aim is a smoother, healthier-looking neck rather than a perfectly line-free one.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people have two or three booster sessions about four weeks apart, then maintenance once or twice a year.
Is filler used for neck lines?
Only very soft products in tiny amounts, if at all. Thicker fillers can look lumpy in thin neck skin, so boosters are usually preferred.
How long do results last?
Booster results typically last 6–12 months, skin botox 3–4 months and device tightening about a year.
Can I treat my neck and face on the same day?
Yes. Many patients combine neck boosters with a facial lifting or skin treatment in one visit.
