What is LDM treatment?
LDM stands for Local Dynamic Micro-massage. The handpiece switches rapidly between two ultrasound frequencies, which creates pressure changes in the tissue at a microscopic level. Unlike high-intensity ultrasound such as Ultherapy Prime, it does not heat or injure tissue — it is a low-energy, soothing treatment.
Clinically, LDM is used to reduce inflammation and swelling, support the skin barrier and improve hydration. At UE it is most often added straight after injections or lifting — for example after Juvelook or Thermage FLX — to help the skin settle faster, which matters when you only have a few days in Seoul.
Who benefits from LDM?
- Sensitive or reactive skin that flushes easily.
- Dehydrated, tight-feeling skin after flights or harsh products.
- Puffiness around the eyes or lower face.
- Recovery after other treatments such as boosters, lasers or threads.
- Anyone wanting a no-downtime refresh before an event.
LDM does not lift sagging skin or replace volume. For those concerns, see non-invasive lifting; LDM then works well as the finishing step.

What to expect after LDM
| Immediately | Skin looks calmer and feels more hydrated; slight warmth fades within minutes. |
|---|---|
| Same day | Normal routine, make-up and travel. |
| After 3–5 sessions | More stable, less reactive skin in a weekly course. |
| After other procedures | Swelling and redness tend to settle more comfortably. |
“Skin that has just been treated needs care, not more stress. LDM is how we look after it in the first hours.”
Dr. Lee Yoo-jung · Chief DirectorIs LDM safe?
LDM is very low risk. Some people notice mild warmth or brief redness. It is not used over active infections, open wounds or certain implanted electronic devices, and we check pregnancy status before treatment. Benefits are subtle and cumulative: a single session gives a fresh look, but lasting change in sensitivity or hydration usually needs a course. It is not a substitute for lifting or volume treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Does LDM hurt?
No. Most people find it relaxing; it feels like a light, warm massage.
How many LDM sessions do I need?
One session helps after a procedure. For sensitive skin, a weekly course of three to five sessions is common if you are in Seoul long enough.
Can LDM reduce swelling after filler or boosters?
It is commonly used for that purpose and many patients find swelling settles more comfortably, although results vary.
Is LDM the same as HIFU?
No. HIFU uses focused, high-intensity ultrasound to tighten deep layers; LDM uses low-intensity ultrasound to calm and hydrate the skin.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
Yes, straight away.
Is LDM included in packages?
LDM is part of many of our lifting and booster packages; see the treatment cost pages for details.
