The short answer

Double chin treatment reduces fullness under the chin and sharpens the angle between the chin and neck. Non-surgical options include DoubleTite to reduce fat and tighten skin, Ultherapy or Thermage to tighten loose tissue, and chin filler when a short chin makes the neck look fuller. What causes a double chin, and how is it treated?

A double chin is rarely just weight. Genetics can store fat beneath the chin even in slim people; skin and the platysma muscle loosen with age; and a short or retruded chin shortens the line from chin to neck, making any fullness more obvious. Each cause has a different fix.

Fat with good skin responds to DoubleTite. Mild laxity responds to Ultherapy. A weak chin is improved with chin and jawline filler. Larger amounts of fat or loose skin are better treated with liposuction or a neck lift.

Who is suited to non-surgical double chin treatment?

  • Pinchable fat under the chin that does not shift with diet.
  • Reasonable skin tone that will contract after fat reduction.
  • A soft chin-to-neck angle in side photographs.
  • A slightly short chin that makes the neck look fuller.
  • Stable weight for the past several months.

Visible neck bands or skin that hangs when you look down usually need surgery; devices cannot remove that skin.

02 Plan One or a combination of fat reduction, tightening and chin support.
03 Treatment Done under local anaesthesia or numbing cream, usually in a single visit.

Recovery after double chin treatment

Risks and side effects

Swelling, bruising and tenderness are expected. Less common effects are temporary numbness, firmness or small irregularities; rarely, a nerve near the lower lip can be temporarily affected, causing an uneven smile that usually recovers. Results depend on skin quality, and weight gain can bring fullness back.

Can a double chin be removed without surgery?

Often yes, when fat is moderate and skin tone is good. DoubleTite and tightening devices can make a clear difference.

Is the result permanent?

Removed fat cells do not regrow, but remaining fat can enlarge with weight gain, and skin keeps ageing.

How many sessions are needed?

Many patients need one DoubleTite session; tightening devices are usually repeated yearly.

Will I need to wear a chin strap?

Sometimes for a few days after DoubleTite or liposuction, to support the skin as it settles.

When is surgery better?

Can I travel home soon after?
