The short answer

Skinvive is a hyaluronic acid skin booster made by Allergan (the makers of Juvederm). Tiny droplets of a soft HA gel with lidocaine are placed just under the surface of the cheeks to attract water, making the skin look smoother, more hydrated and more radiant. It is not a volumising filler. One session is often enough, and results typically last around six months.

What is Skinvive?

Skinvive is a hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplet injectable designed for skin quality rather than contour. Hyaluronic acid naturally holds water in the skin, and levels fall with age and sun exposure. Placing a very soft, lightly cross-linked HA gel evenly in the superficial layer improves hydration, smoothness and light reflection — the qualities people describe as glow.

Because it is so soft, Skinvive does not lift or reshape. If you want firmness and smaller pores, Juvelook or Rejuran may suit you better, and many patients combine them. Package prices are on our Skinvive cost page.

Side effects and risks

Typical effects are redness, swelling, small bumps, tenderness and occasional bruising, usually settling within a few days. As with any hyaluronic acid injection, rare risks include lumps, infection and blockage of a blood vessel; hyaluronidase can dissolve the product if needed. Results are subtle by design and last months, not years. We do not treat during pregnancy, with active skin infection or with a history of severe allergies to lidocaine or HA.

How long does Skinvive last?

Around six months for most people, sometimes a little longer with a top-up.

Is Skinvive a filler?

It is made of hyaluronic acid like a filler, but it is very soft and placed superficially to improve skin quality rather than add volume.

How many sessions do I need?

Usually one. Some people with very dry skin benefit from a second session later.

Can I combine Skinvive with other boosters?

Yes. It is often combined with Rejuran and skin botox in one visit, as in some of our packages.

Does it hurt?

Most people feel only small pricks thanks to numbing cream and the lidocaine in the gel.
