What is laser lifting?
People search for "laser lifting" when they mean any device that tightens the face without surgery. In clinic, the work is done by a handful of technologies that deliver controlled heat at different depths. Heat makes existing collagen contract at once, then triggers the slow production of new collagen, which is where most of the improvement comes from.
At UE we use Thermage FLX for skin-level tightening, Ultherapy for the deeper SMAS layer, and EMFACE when muscle tone is part of the picture. Many patients benefit from two of these together.
Who is a good candidate for laser lifting?
- Early jowls or a blurring jawline usually from the mid-thirties.
- Loose, crepey texture on the cheeks, neck or around the eyes.
- Mild brow heaviness that is not yet hooding the lid.
- Maintenance after a facelift to prolong the result.
- Patients who cannot take time off for surgery.
If skin hangs in folds or the neck has strong bands, devices will disappoint; a mini facelift is the realistic option.

What to expect afterwards
| Same day | Pinkness and a slight tight feeling; make-up allowed. |
|---|---|
| Day 1–7 | Possible tenderness along the jaw after ultrasound. |
| Month 1 | Skin looks smoother; lift is still developing. |
| Month 2–3 | Main tightening visible; lasts around a year. |
“A device should make you look rested, not treated. I set the energy for your face, not for the brochure.”
Dr. Lee Yoo-jung · Chief DirectorRisks and limits
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and occasional small numb or bruised patches are the usual side effects. Burns, blisters and fat loss are rare and mostly linked to incorrect settings. Results are modest and vary between people; some respond less than others.
Frequently asked questions
Is laser lifting painful?
It is uncomfortable rather than painful for most people. Ultrasound is felt as deep hot points along the jaw; radiofrequency as brief heat.
How long does laser lifting last?
Typically around a year, after which a maintenance session keeps collagen topped up.
Can I combine Thermage and Ultherapy?
Yes. Many patients do both on the same visit because they work at different depths.
When will I see results?
There is some tightening at once, but the main improvement appears after two to three months.
Can it replace a facelift?
No. It can delay surgery for early laxity but cannot remove loose skin.
Is there downtime?
Very little. Most people return to work the same or next day.
