Male Rhinoplasty in Seoul

For men who want a straighter, cleaner nose that still looks strong. Dr. Lee Yoo-jung keeps the bridge firm and the tip unrotated, so the result reads as masculine rather than 'done'.

The short answer

Male rhinoplasty reshapes the nose while preserving traits usually seen as masculine: a straight, relatively high bridge, a tip angle close to 90–95 degrees and a defined but not pinched tip. Common goals are removing a hump, straightening a nose broken in sport and improving breathing. Men's thicker skin means swelling at the tip often lasts longer than in women.

i.

How is male rhinoplasty different?

The most common mistake in men's nose surgery is to apply a feminine template: a scooped bridge, an upturned tip and narrow nostrils. On a male face these features can look out of place. Male rhinoplasty aims for a straight or very slightly convex line, a tip that points forward rather than up, and enough width to suit a broader jaw and brow.

Men also tend to have thicker skin and stronger cartilage. That makes tip refinement slower to show, but it means a well-supported nose holds its shape well. If your main concern is a bump, see dorsal hump surgery; if the nose was broken and now sits off-centre, deviated nose surgery covers the straightening in detail.

ii.

Who is male rhinoplasty for?

  • A hump on the bridge that dominates the profile.
  • A nose that was broken in sport or an accident and healed crooked.
  • A heavy or drooping tip that looks longer when you smile.
  • Breathing problems from a deviated septum.
  • Men who want subtle change that colleagues will not immediately spot.

Men of different backgrounds often have different starting points — see ethnic rhinoplasty if you want to keep heritage features recognisable.

Male vs female rhinoplasty goals

Typical male goal Typical female goal Why it matters
Bridge line Straight, strong Straight or gently curved Over-scooping feminises
Tip rotation About 90–95° About 95–110° An upturned tip looks feminine on men
Tip definition Defined, not pointed More refined Thicker skin limits narrowing
Nostril show Minimal Slight Visible nostrils age the face in men
Tip swelling Often 12+ months 6–12 months Thicker skin holds fluid longer

How male rhinoplasty is performed

01 Consultation Dr. Lee reviews your profile, breathing and any history of fractures, and agrees how much change you want.
02 Anaesthesia General anaesthesia or deep IV sedation.
03 Structure first The hump is lowered, bones straightened if needed, the septum corrected and the tip supported with cartilage.
04 Splint A firm splint is worn for about a week to protect the bones.

When can men go back to work and the gym?

Day 1–3 Swelling, congestion and possible bruising under the eyes.
Day 7 Splint off; desk work possible if you don't mind some swelling.
Week 3–4 Light cardio; avoid heavy lifting that raises blood pressure.
Week 6–8 Contact sports and heavy weights only after clearance; glasses back on the bridge.

“Most men tell me the same thing: they want the bump gone, not a different face.”

Risks, honestly

As well as the usual risks of bleeding, infection and asymmetry, men should know that thick skin limits how fine the tip can become and keeps it swollen for longer. Over-reduction of a hump can leave a 'scooped' look that is hard to correct, so we take down the bridge in small steps. A further impact to the nose during healing can shift the bones.

Frequently asked questions

Will people notice I've had a nose job?

Bruising and the splint are visible for about a week. Once settled, a conservative male rhinoplasty usually looks like a better version of your own nose.

Can you fix my breathing at the same time?

Yes. A deviated septum or narrowed airway can be corrected during the same operation.

Is thick skin a problem?

It doesn't prevent surgery, but it limits fine tip definition and means swelling takes longer — sometimes over a year — to settle.

When can I play football or box again?

Avoid contact sports for at least 6–8 weeks, and longer if the bones were moved; Dr. Lee will confirm at follow-up.

Is a female surgeon right for male rhinoplasty?

Dr. Lee plans every nose for the face it belongs to; male patients come to her for exactly that restraint.

How long should I stay in Seoul?

About 7–10 days, until the splint is off and Dr. Lee has checked healing.
